Friday Orchid

Before we get to Aus. back to the exotic flora and fauna of the British Isles specifically orchids. This is not our local orchid fields.

It's a little patch of rough grass in the midst of a car park at a local stately home and gardens. I think these are a very white form of Dactlyorhiza fuchsii, the common spotted orchid.

I've got no idea how these came to be here. They may well have been introduced but orchids do rather tend to spring up in vast numbers naturally every now and again. However they got there, they're rather spectacular in such a drab dank little patch of grass. One or two of them are actually growing out into the road would you believe. Such delicate things orchids....
