A surprise

I was rather surprised to run across some old friends in Hispaniola. This is a village weaver, an african species which has set up a rather strong introduced population across DR.

I can only presume that, unlike those I photographed in Africa, these guys are descended from escaped pets. This was one of a pretty big colony in a tree top. As we were in a boat on a lake that was 10 feet above normal levels I got a rather nice eyelevel view.
