Tarpon are one of my favourite sights on a dive here. These ancient bony fish can grow truly enormous but 6 feet is about the maximum we see. They are prized by anglers for their fighting abilities but I personally like them for their wonderfully reflective silver scales. They are hard to do justice to but everytime I see them I have a go and hope the light does me a favour. The ones above passed over us early one morning and were a real treat. The one below was one of a group that kept moving in and out of photo range during a safety stop at the end of a dive. 'Tis an awful photo but it really shows off the silver tat gives them the nickname of the silver king.
