In the dry forests of India, the dead leaves resting on and around the hotel walls are not necessarily what they seem
This is a moth I'm tentatively identifying as Hypopyra vespertilio
This species may be more familiar, certainly to those visiting tropical butterfly conservatories in the UK where they are often kept, an orange oakleaf, Kallima inachus. Oddly I never imagined I'd see one in the wild and yet this one helpfully rested on my doorframe when I returned from the morning game drive.
