any idea what this is?

beyond "random arachnid"? I found this little weirdo on a hike the other day. As you can guess from the lines on my palm beneath it it is absolutely tiny.

I'd go with spinybacked orbweaver (Gasteracantha cancriformis). They have lots of other names depending on where you find them, but they're unique among spiders. Good catch!

I thought it was a lemon drop spider. JUST KIDDING.

I call the florida version (red and white rather than yellow)crab spiders.
As a child before I learned that spiders were icky,we used to catch them and the scorpions that lived in the wood piles.
But Jason called it by its rightfull names.
