alone

This tree is rather famous. It's the lone cypress at Pebble Beach.

You may recognise its silhouette as the logo of this rather famous place.

Monterey Cypress are, as the name suggests, endemic to the Monterey Peninsula. They have however become a commonly grown tree both commercially and by gardeners worldwide. As this image suggests they are more than able to stand up to wind, sea, salt and sun and as such are often used as part of shelterbelts.

On a meta note apologies for the lack of recent postings, I have guests on island so my time has been taken up with showing them around - on the upside, on saturday I got to show them flamingos, turtles, iguanas and our resident peregrine so there will be lots more images to share soon enough.
