So arriving in Sequoia NP, 7000 feet above sea level to find snow on the ground (my first for several years; ah snow - how I've missed you) I was a little surprised to hear there were still lots of black bears around. Apparently the bears of the region move up and down in altitude to beat the cold rather than hibernating.
We spent a while searching areas we were told were good for bears but sadly the above sign was as close as we got. Next time.....
