Yet another stingray

....an Atlantic one this time. This is Urobatis jamaicensis or the yellow stingray. Its another of the round-type rays and this family is closely related to the freshwater stingrays of the amazon (some of these are among the prettiest fish in the world).

Stingrays like a fairly specific habitat type so if you are doing a dive and find one you may well find others. I'd only seen one yellow stingray on my first trip to the carribean and it was hidden in a cave. Then on the final dive I found seven; all conveniently out in the open and easily photographed. I really like the pattern on these rays but I think some are better patterned than others and I reckon I still haven't seen the nicest.
