Sometimes...

...Great Barracuda seem to follow divers and sometimes you don't spot them until they appear next to your head. It can be mildly surprising to see this swim past your ear:

Isn't it scary? I assume they don't attack unless provoked? That's a magnificent fish and a prize-winning photo. I love the foreground setting.

barracuda attacks are very rare indeed Pam (I only know of 2 substantiated attacks - both related to the barracuda being confused by a shiny metallic object attached to a swimmer/diver). They do tend to surprise you though as they seem able to get very close without you noticing - which I guess is the point.
