A plant I'd always wanted to see

since I saw pictures of it in a book about RBG Kew was the stilt palm, Verschaffeltia splendida

I finally caught up with this one in Singapore BG. Its not too hard to see how this plant from the Seychelles got its name. You'd think this would be a lowland, perhaps swampland plant but apparently it grows halfway up mountains. Go figure.

Go figure is right. I'm curious as to why the raised trunk. Let us know if you find out.
