Contrasting swans

This Whooper lives alone at London Wetland Centre year round. Although it moves throughout the various wild bird areas I suspect it must have been domesticated at some point as it's very quiet and tolerant of humans and doesn't seem to show any urge to migrate.

Whatever its origins it makes a nice change to the usual mute swans we have here. Mute swans are very beautiful but there's something about their disposition I don't like. They always seem a bit bolshy for my liking. Here's a pic of a typical mute swan pose, wings slightly puffed up, head angled and giving your writer a bit of a glare.
