Checkout the weird eyelashes - they are actually called iris lappets and are designed to provide camouflage and protection for those big eyes. Just like its name sake it pretty much sits there until something tasty comes to close when it will strike very quickly.
This is a species of flathead and some of its near relatives are very popular sportfishing and eating fish in Australia.
